Food For Thought

So today in class there seemed to be quite a debate on the proper process of cooking POP-TARTS. Well fret no more! I’ve done some research and apparently this is actually a widespread problem. Yes, as insane as it seems, there were several how to articles and blogs on proper pastry cooking procedure, and plenty of POP-TART fans thanking these authors for the gift of a warm pastry. So, if you want to have the ultimate POP-TART experience apparently you should:

1)       Remove the wrapper (because let’s face it, we all want to munch on that shiny aluminum wrapping right?)
2)      Turn toaster onto a low setting, watch the pastry if you are unsure of a setting (in other words don’t burn the house down by torching your POP-TART)
3)      Remove the POP-TART CAREFULLY and placing it on a plate
4)      Allow it to cool for about 35 seconds
5)      Enjoy your POP-TART!
Yes the website below even offers helpful tips about cooking even numbers verses odd and so on.
Now, I understand that some people would rather microwave their POP-TARTS, so I’ve got that covered as well.
1)      Remove wrapping
2)      Place pastry on a plate
3)      Microwave for about three seconds
Now this option is not as popular, but it is a growing trend. For more information about microwaving them http://www.ehow.com/how_4849044_microwave-pop-tarts.html
Well, hope this was helpful to anyone who was having confusion about this topic!

  1. As humorous as I find this entry, I was unaware that anyone microwaved their poptarts. To me, that is like making microwave popcorn on the stove--you are using the wrong kitchen appliance. But thank you for informing me on how to prepare a poptart without burning my house down. Now I don't have to pretend I just "like them cold" anymore.
